Madalena Menezes

Born in Lisbon, 1969

Co-founder of Atelier dos Remédios, with Teixeira Bastos, completed a wide range of Architecture and Urban Renewal projects in Portugal and coordinated architecture at the University of Macau Library contest, which won the 2nd place. Since 2003, she has been part of the teaching team of the Department of Architecture of the Autonomous University of Lisbon.

Together with Francisco Teixeira Bastos she has developed projects in Portugal, especially in the Lisbon region. This activity has mainly covered the private sector, comprising a variety of projects, in particular Architecture and Urban Renovation. In the public sector, heritage and cultural equipment are the main areas in which they operate, having also carried out Urban Planning projects.

Awards

In 1992 she joined the atelier team of architect Manuel Vicente. Following the work developed in this studio, both in the national territory and in Macao, collaborates in the project of the riding school of the Portuguese School of Equestrian Art in the Queluz National Palace, coordinated the architecture with the specialties in the design / construction contest of the University Library of Macau awarded 2nd place –1997.

She was part of the project team classified in 1st place, ex aequo, in the Competition Ideas Contest for Expo'98, Study of the European Union Pavilion for EXPO'98, Lisbon - 1996 and the limited competition for One Hotel attached to Vasco da Gama Tower - 2001.
